Positioning a crown requires a few appointments. At the first
meeting, the dentist need to carry
out a thorough examination of the decayed tooth and get it
ready for the crown by cushioning
down a bit of your natural tooth’s enamel.
Next, the impressions of your infected tooth are delivered to
the lab where the desired cap or
crown is created. The dentist might provide a temporary
cover on the tooth and then the next
appointment will be provided for the coming week or so.
At your next appointment, you dentist will inject a local
anesthetic into your gums and dismantle
the temporary crown placed in the previous session. Then, a
permanent dental adhesive is
applied on your tooth to fix the permanent crown to it.
Note:
Post cap or crown installation, you may observe a
little swelling, tenderness or soreness, and
usual discomfort. Please don't worry it will subside in
a day or two. Just keep brushing and
flossing like you would do to your natural teeth to maintain
its condition.
